How to choose a custom logistics software development company
Every agency says it builds logistics software. Very few have shipped a dispatch board that survives a Monday morning. Here is how operators separate the two before signing.
Domain depth beats generic delivery skill
Ask the vendor to describe an exception flow they've built: a missed pickup, a partial delivery, a detention claim. Teams with real logistics experience answer in operational language, not feature bullets.
Look for evidence of EDI, API, and telematics integrations — the parts of a logistics build that consume most of the budget.
Integration track record is the real risk line
A custom TMS or WMS is mostly plumbing: ERP, carrier APIs, ELD/telematics, scanners, customer portals, accounting. Ask which of those the team has connected in production and what broke.
Insist on a documented integration inventory during discovery, before any fixed price is quoted.
Delivery model and ownership
You want source code, CI/CD, and documentation in your accounts from week one. Avoid partners whose deployment lives only on their infrastructure.
Fixed scope for discovery, iterative delivery for build, and a named product owner on your side is the pattern that finishes.
Where Wve Labs fits
Wve Labs is a digital product company — product strategy, design, and engineering under one roof. Mobile has been at the heart of Wve for 10+ years and remains one of our deepest areas of expertise, alongside web platforms, custom software, and applied AI.
Engagements typically start around $25,000 and begin with a scoped discovery that produces an architecture, integration list, and delivery plan you own regardless of who builds it.
